Conscious Breathing III
Breath, Sound and the Manifestation of the Universe
by Charla Shamhart
The Ethereal Kingdom is the foundation of all that exists. It is the home of universal Silence, the womb of creation, and is composed of the un-manifested essence of all matter. In this state of consciousness, all is potential waiting to be transformed into the millions of forms we see around us, as well as the infinite number of unseen things beyond our ability to see into certain light spectrums.
Before the beginning of creation there was nothing but Consciousness, yet It was not aware of Itself. At some point, like a baby taking its first breath, it breathed in, and Consciousness was sparked into self-awareness by the Prana, the life force energy that existed in that cosmic void. And when it breathed out, like a child uttering its first sound, on that Breath of Life was carried the primordial sound–OM— and the Universes were vibrated into existence. Mystics have long spoken of the “Primordial Sound,” “The Word,” or the “Music of the Spheres” creating the Universe.
And God said… “Let there be LIGHT.” Sound manifested, and from that Sound, Light came, and then all that we perceive burst into physical reality; the “Big Bang” if you will. It was SOUND that focused the Light into form.
It is important to dispel the commonly held misconception that “sound is a wave.” It isn’t. All audible sounds are actually sphere-like forms, but not necessarily perfectly spherical. For the sake of clarity we can call these “sound bubbles.” It is easier to understand the concept of visual sound a little more fully by looking at how the vibrating atoms of air that create sound relate to light and life. At the moment that these atomic sounds collide, something quite magical happens: Light is created every time the magnetic shells of two vibrating atoms bump against each other.
The “frequency of Light” created in this way depends on the energy in the collisions, that is, how fast they bump together. Every individual life form is vibrating at a different Sound frequency. Chanting at particular frequencies creates very different Sounds and, as a result, different visible shapes or configurations of Light.
Francis Crick, co-discoverer of DNA notes:
“Consciousness is somehow a by-product of the simultaneous, high-frequency firing of neurons
in different parts of the brain. It’s the meshing of these frequencies that generates consciousness,
just as tones from individual instruments produce the rich, complex, and seamless sounds of a
symphony orchestra.”
The firing of those neurons looks like lightning storms as Light is created each time a neuron fires.
A device called a “CymaScope” uses the science of “Cymatics” to make Sound visible by imprinting the invisible vibrations of Sound onto the surface of ultra-pure water to reveal its once-hidden geometric structures. The Universe is teeming with exquisite holographic “sound bubbles” that produce shimmering patterns of acoustic energy, each bubble speeding away at over 700 miles an hour as new bubbles form from the source of the Sound. Whether the Sound is emitted from a voice or some other source, such as a musical instrument, this bubble leaves a momentary vibrational imprint on the surface of a body. Every cell in the surface tissues of that body receives sound patterns from the bubbles that surround it. This is why Sound and music are such powerful emotional stimulators for recalling events and situations from the past. Furthermore, since these cellular memories are stored near the surface of the body, massage and energy work are such powerful techniques to release stored trauma.
Tibetan monks have long used deep chanting tones, as those low frequencies are the only sounds that can penetrate deeply enough into the body’s tissues to change the molecular structure of internal reality. In this way, broken bones were often healed amazingly fast.
The Bhagavad Gita tells us:
“In the microcosmic universe of the body of man, the Aum vibrations work through the vital activities
in the astral spinal centers of life (chakras) with their creative vibratory elements of earth, water, fire,
air, and ether. Through these, man’s body is created, enlivened, and sustained.”
One whose consciousness becomes attuned to, or entrained with these inner astral sounds, finds themself gradually ascending to higher and higher states of awareness.
A Mandala is a representation of the Universe or some portion of it, whereas a Yantra is the geometric roadmap to the Universe. The oldest yantra is the Sri Yantra, which was discovered by yogis whose chanting of particular Sound frequencies formed specific patterns, first in their minds and were later transferred to sand or paintings or even 3-D sculptures.
The Sri Yantra is a configuration of triangles, surrounded by two circles of lotus petals, with the whole encased within a gated frame, called the “Earth Citadel.” The nine interlocking triangles surrounding the central seed point of the yantra are drawn by the superimposition of five downward pointing triangles, representing the female principle of creation, and four upright triangles, representing the male principle. The Sri Yantra is a visual tool to give a first-hand experience of the totality of existence, which goes beyond physical reality, so that the spiritual seeker may internalize its symbols for the ultimate realization of unity with the cosmos.
There is a direct relationship between Sound and Light as there can be no Light in the Universe without Sound. Through the Breath of Life, we create Sound, and from that Sound is manifested Light. We are truly Light Beings!
