They Came From Outer Space:
E.T.s of the Stone Kingdom
Carrie Laughing Heart
It all started “Somewhere Out there.” When our Earth was formed some billions and billions of years ago, it was seeded by Space Rocks. The three main types of space rocks are comets, asteroids, and meteoroids. It is this last category that I will be discussing here.
So what’s the difference between a meteoroid and a meteorite? A meteoroid is a small particle from an asteroid or comet orbiting the Sun, basically a chunk of rock in space. A meteorite, on the other hand, is just a meteoroid which, when captured by the Earth’s gravity, survives the friction of its passage through the planet’s protective atmosphere and impacts the Earth’s surface.
Meteorites, Tektites, and Moldavites, “Will the real E.T. please stand up?”
There are three classes of meteorites: silicate, iron, and stony- iron. They can range in size from very small to very large, so large that their impact leaves an enormous crater when it hits. Most of the meteorites that survive the journey are of the iron/stony iron variety: magnetic, oddly shaped, and very heavy.
Currently, there is some controversy surrounding the origins of the silicate Tektites. Generally, they are believed to be ejected material from the impact of the meteorite which must be of a magnitude great enough to create the necessary conditions. The heat from the impact melts material from the Earth’s surface turning it into a natural glass.
The majority of known tektites (from the Greek word meaning molten) occur only within four geographically extensive strewn fields. These are the Australasian, Central European, Ivory Coast, and North American tektite strewn fields.
The most recent of these impacts happened a very, very, long time ago. That’s one of the things that make tektites so special. They offer us an opportunity for a direct connection to the vast reaches of the Universe. For most of us this will be the closest thing we can touch that is literally “not of this world.”
More than 2000 years ago, the Chinese referred to tektites as the “Ink Stone of the Thunder God.” To the Aborigines of Australia, they are “Mabon” or Magic. Finding one is believed to bring good luck. In India they are known as the “Sacred Gem of Krishna.” Use them with meditation to increase telepathy. Carry one for heightened psychic sensitivity, psychic travel and an increased energy field. They help to open and clear the lower chakras, and are good for contacting the “Higher Realms.”
Most tektites are black, brown, gray. However one unusual and less common form is olive green and is named after the Moldavia region of Czechoslovakia where they are found. Moldavites, like Tektites are stones of intense frequency and very high vibrations. Their power is so great that the wearer may actually feel the heat through their body, in what is known as the “Moldavite flush.”
One of Moldavite’s particular gifts to us is psychic protection while working in the realm of spirit. Malicious entities are literally unable to find the person who is protected by Moldavite. It is also a stone of transformation. To carry Moldavite is to set off on a life changing journey.
So, as the say on the X-Files, “The Truth is Out There.” Find yourself a little E.T. and take it home, you just never know………
