The late Steve Ryals, author of Drunk with Wonder: Awakening to the God Within went from homeless and shooting drugs in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district at 17 to graduating from UC Berkeley on the Dean’s List six years later.

Though a high-school dropout, Steve acquired three college degrees:
AA in Liberal Arts: Pasadena City College, 1971
BA in English Literature: UC Berkeley, 1973
AS in Business: Solano Community College, 1980

Steve was a minister of the Universal Life Church, a licensed Massage Therapist and a Reiki Therapist.  A graphic artist, he wrote poetry for over 40 years (over 20 of his poems appear in “Drunk…”and has also written numerous short stories and an unpublished science fiction novel or two.

Steve founded Rock Creek Press in 1990, and as and a writer and editor, self-published three collections of poetry as well as work by other authors.  In 1992, he created an audio version of his poetry book, Winds of Dawn with his friend, BODHI, who played improvisational keyboards, piano or flute on each track.  From 1994-2004, Steve was a free-lance music reviewer for “New Age Retailer” and then the “Sedona Journal of Emergence” he wrote and published over 1,200 reviews, hundreds of which are still available online as well as articles published in PC World and Electronic Design magazines.

Drunk with Wonder: Awakening to the God Within, hailed as where “Conversations with God” meets “What the Bleep Do we Know?,” was the culmination of years of research and decades of personal experience.  Steve passed on in September, 2013.
