Philosophical Musings

Please Note: This entry, originally penned in 2008 during the run-up to the 5th Anniversary of the Harmonic Concordance, seems to me as pertinent today as it was then.  Thus I am republishing it here.

I’d like to address a question that someone sent me: Why are you bothering to promote this anyway? (Thanks, Ramon)

To tell you the truth, it’s a question that I have asked myself several times this past month. About four years ago, one of my best friends asked me if I was going to do anything, now that the 1st anniversary (2004) of the Concordance was coming up. At that time I had just spent more than five years trying to bring the Concordance to the public’s attention, and frankly, I was spent. Also, I really didn’t think that there would be that much interest in such an event, nor did I want folks to think that I was doing something to promote myself in any way. Actually, at this point in my life, I would very much like to be fully retired. So why am I here?

Well, in the first place, I believe in the Concordance Ideals:

  • that since our beloved planet, Gaia, a major conscious being Herself, feeds, clothes, shelters and sustains us, our prayers for Her gentle healing are always most appropriate.
  • that we are indeed all ONE, that first and foremost we are Earthlings, not members of nations, races or creeds, and that what I do to my brother I do indeed do to myself.
  • that each soul, in all the Multiverse, is a manifestation of the Creation, that each is but a mirror of that Creator energy and that I Am All That.

Anything that I can do to promote those principles is a necessary task in my life.

In the second place, considering the state of the world today – on the precipice of World War III, with greed and power lust so apparently rampant in the global halls of power, with economies around the planet crumbling, with starvation and overpopulation steadily on the increase and with fear as the motive force for masses of the world’s population, I believe that a remembrance of those Concordance Ideals might be a good thing during this time.

Then there is the third thing: the astrology of the charts of the anniversary date. As an astrologer, I think I know a powerful chart when I see one. Such was the case with the Concordance Grand Sextile and the Grand Quintile charts of 2004, which I have referenced before. No, they did not mark days that had any world shattering news, revelations or visitations. But they were, nevertheless, rife with spiritual power, enough so that they occasioned world wide attention and celebrations.

It wasn’t until I decided that the 5th anniversary might be a good time for a “remembrance” that I ventured a look at the actual date, astrologically. On one hand, I was surprised at what I found, but on the other, I said to myself, “But of course.” In my next post I’ll begin to explicate the charts in some detail, starting by exploring the 1st house of the Solar Return chart.

I hope to make my explanation clear, precise and to the point, and I will ask that you keep me on track with that objective. Therefore, I urge any of you, astrologers and non-astrologers alike, to let me know if what I write accomplishes those aims, or not. I look forward to hearing from you.
