Spirit In Business III

Back to Basics

For a long time I had this idea (limiting belief???) that no one in the “mainstream” business arena would connect with me and my work, so I didn’t actively network in those circles.  Instead, I spent my energy reaching out to people in new age type settings, and networking with people doing energy healing.

But then my mortgage broker invited me to join this networking group in my new town, where my husband and I had just bought a house.  While working with my mortgage guy on this very challenging real estate deal, I learned a lot about his mindset and his soul.  Couple that with the fact that our real estate agent on this deal had taken Reiki, and I opened to the idea that maybe networking in mainstream business circles wouldn’t be a complete waste of time.

I know that consciousness IS evolving and that more and more people ARE awakening.  Working with these two business people on this house deal was further proof.   So I decided to check out the group.  If nothing else, I figured it would be a good way to meet some more people and find a good electrician and auto mechanic.

When I went to my first meeting, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this business networking group included an acupuncturist, a health coach and a former yoga teacher.

I like the model of this group, too.  It’s all about making cross referrals and promoting the group members’ businesses to people we encounter as we go through our week.  And the group members are urged to have “one-on-ones” – meet over coffee or lunch, get to know each other personally and to learn more about each others’ business.  I was relieved to find people who were eager to meet with me and were open to learning about my work.

At each meeting every member gets up and gives a one-minute pitch about their services including any specials they’re running and the kind of people who would be an ideal clients for them.  When it’s my turn, I get mostly puzzled looks, and a few knowing nods.

That’s cool.

There are people in the group who already understand what I do.  And each meeting gives me the opportunity to educate the uninitiated.

And I have to confess that sometimes facing that group pushes my “Nobody understands me-I don’t belong here-and I feel really insecure” buttons.

Uuughh! Didn’t I already work through all this stuff when I was building my practice 15 years ago?  Apparently not….

Actually, I had already worked through this stuff.  And now that I’m moving out of my comfort zone AGAIN, there’s more to do.  That’s the nature of inviting Spirit to work with you in your business – building your business becomes a journey of spiritual growth and personal transformation.

You work on your stuff, you move through it and then you settle into a new comfort zone.  Then, when it’s time to grow beyond that comfort zone again, another layer of stuff comes up.  So you work through the new stuff and settle into your new expanded comfort zone and the process repeats.   Each time you begin to grow again and create a new, larger comfort zone.

Joining this new business networking group is making me take a good look at what I’m resonating with and what I’m broadcasting out to the group through my energy field’s frequency patterns.  Because what you resonate with is what you attract into your experience.

If I’m resonating with “nobody understands me,” I’m going to keep getting those blank stares and puzzled looks when I get up to do my weekly pitch.  If I’m resonating with “I don’t belong here” I’m never going to feel heartily welcomed into this group.  And if I keep broadcasting through my energy field that I feel insecure people will not receive me as the seasoned expert in my field that I actually am.

So, I’ve got some inner work to do.

I look at it like climbing a spiral staircase.  I’ve already moved up this spiral quite a good ways.   Like most stairways that go up multiple stories there are landings on which you can take a little rest.  I’ve been resting here on this landing for a while.  Now I’m ready to continue my climb up to the next level.

Luckily I have the perfect tool in Resonance Repatterning to help me get to that next level.

That’s the great thing about being a professional energy healer.  I understand how the world really works – everything is energy and energy is everything – and I have tools at my disposal that most business people don’t know about.

Even though it may feel like I’m at step one again, I’m not at the bottom of the staircase.  Even though it looks like I have to revisit some old patterns that I thought I already cleared, I’m actually approaching these patterns from a different angle, at a higher level on this spiral that is life.

When I was first building my practice my main focus was on changing my energy patterns and making sure I was resonating with my intentions for my practice.  After I worked through my patterns I started attracting clients.

Then I learned about marketing, writing sales copy, and building and maintaining a website.  I invested a lot of time and money learning these skills.  Through it all I still worked on changing my inner patterns.  Ongoing maintenance is essential!

While it’s important to have effective outreach and marketing, attracting clients is the only way to build your practice.  Regardless of whether you advertise or do other networking and outreach, it’s the state of your own energy that will attract potential clients to you.

So, how do you attract clients?  The short answer is through intention and frequency!

Here’s what I mean:  The Law of Attraction states that like frequencies attract like frequencies.  Resonate with your intentions and you will start to outwardly manifest them.

Spend some time thinking about who your perfect client would be.  This will help you clarify who you want to attract.  Do you want to work with individuals, families, couples, children, businesses, etc?

Envision what qualities you would like your clients to possess.  A basic intention I set for myself is, “I work with clients who are ready to create positive change in their lives and who understand that change is a process and may require multiple sessions.  My clients value my services, and are able and happy to pay me for those services.”

A great attraction tool is to give thanks in advance as if you have already attracted all of the clients you want.

Here’s an exercise from Abraham-Hicks that you can use:

  1. Get into a high energy state of joy and gratitude,
  2. Then give thanks for all of the clients you are serving who are making wonderful progress and whose lives are changing for the better.
  3. See your happy clients in your mind’s eye and feel it energetically.
  4. Hold this energy for at least 17 seconds.
  5. It’s a pure, constant vibration of joy and gratitude that you are learning to sustain.  And this takes practice.  Do this once a day, or more often if you can.

Another of my favorite attraction tools is the Gratitude Journal.  Everyday write down five things for which you are thankful.  This will help you to feel and sustain the vibration of gratitude on a regular basis.  Gratitude is a high level of “coherence” that puts you in a highly attractive state.

As long as you’re amping up your attraction potential, consider bringing yourself into resonance with attracting people who can help you increase your clientele.  Helpful people may include clients who refer their friends to you, contractors who support your enterprise with skills such as accounting or web design, other healers in allied modalities who trade sessions with you or introduce you to their network, etc.

I’ve found that an important aspect of attracting helpful people involved shifting my own resonance around the issue of competition.  The old paradigm revolved around competition and winning.  The new energy paradigm is all about supportive relationships and cooperation.

There really is plenty of everything for everybody!
